PetroChina successfully restored 34 hectares of watershed area with 95 percent of survival rate of the vegetation, as part of the company’s commitment for sustainable forest management. On December 17, 2025, PetroChina officially handed back 34 hectares of land within the Londerang Peat Protected Forest Area to the Ministry of Forestry. The area was part of Jabung Block’s pipeline routes, production facilities, and exploitation wells in East Tanjung Jabung Regency, Jambi Province.
PetroChina Vice President Operations Khostarosa Andhika Jaya symbolically handed over the assessment report to Director General of Watershed Management and Forest Rehabilitation at the Ministry of Forestry Dyah Murtiningsih in Jakarta.
An evaluation conducted by a cross-agency assessment team—comprising representatives from BPDAS Batanghari, the Jambi Provincial Forestry Office, UPTD KPH Unit XIV East Tanjung Jabung, and other related institutions—recorded a vegetation survival rate of 95.88 percent. Native plant species successfully growing in the area include jelutung rawa, pulai rawa, balangeran, kayu aro, jengkol, jackfruit, and areca palm. The vegetation was planted at a spacing of 3 x 3 meters (approximately 1,100 trees per hectare), with an average plant height of 127.5 centimeters.
Since 2022, PetroChina has been actively involved in watershed and peat protected forest rehabilitation efforts in East Tanjung Jabung. In 2023, the company received an award from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (LHK) for its sustainability commitment in watershed rehabilitation and land reclamation, covering 473 hectares of watershed areas and 40 hectares of urban forest in West Muara Sabak.
Beyond fulfilling its reclamation and rehabilitation obligations, PetroChina has also participated in various mangrove planting programs in Jambi and other regions across Indonesia. To date, the company has planted more than 93,000 mangrove seedlings nationwide, including 35,200 in Waitambi, East Tanjung Jabung; 10,813 in Pangkal Babu, West Tanjung Jabung; 10,000 in the Pantai Indah Kapuk area of North Jakarta; and 5,000 in Pari Island, Seribu Islands.
