Jabung Block workers enthusiastically welcomed President Director of PetroChina in Indonesia, Qian Mingyang, on 13-17 October 2022. This was Qian’s first work visit to Jabung Block since assuming his position in mid-2020, at the outset of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In this five-day work visit, Qian toured several of PetroChina’s operational facilities in Jambi, including North Geragai Fractionation (NGF) in Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency, Betara Gas Plant (BGP) and North East Betara (NEB) Field in Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency, as well as Floating Storage & Offloading (FSO) in Berhala Strait.
On Saturday, 15 October 2022, Qian also met with Jambi Governor Al Haris.
During the visit, Qian was accompanied by representatives of PetroChina management, including VP Human Resources & Relations Dencio Renato Boele, Sr. Development Manager Budi Tyas Utomo, Field Managers Arief Hari Suseno and John Halim, Operations Manager Deny Budiman, Project Manager Bambang Sukiyono and HSSE Manager Alvin Reginald.
During his visit, Qian had the chance to observe the company's field operational activities and discuss various issues with employees. He also attended meet-and-greet sessions with employees at Betara Camp and Geragai Camp.
Qian conveyed his gratitude to all employees for their work in maintaining continuous operations at Jabung Block.
“I arrived in Indonesia two years ago and this is my first time [visiting here]. Sincerely, I thank all of you and all of your families for your good support to the company. I look forward to our conversations and discussions,” he said.
On the visit’s sidelines, Qian went to Sukorejo Ecotourism, PetroChina’s CSR beneficiary based on Liberica coffee cultivation in Mekar Jaya Subdistrict, Betara District, Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency. Qian met with local coffee farmers and batik artisans at Gerai UMKM (MSME Outlet) Mekar Jaya, the ecotourism’s most prominent spot. At the outlet, Qian signed a Sukorejo Ecotourism poster and received a gift from the local tourism development community (Pokdarwis).
