Tanjung Jabung Barat People Enjoy PetroChina’s Social Programs

PetroChina International Jabung Ltd. has handed 2021 social programs dedicated for Tanjung Jabung Barat (TJB) people. The handover ceremony took place in newly constructed community hall Aula Petro Catur Manunggal in Purwodadi Subdistrict, Tebing Tinggi District, TJB, on March 9, 2022.

TJB Regent Anwar Sadat symbolically inaugurated the community hall, which was one of eleven programs handed over in the ceremony. Field Manager Jabung John Halim, SKK Migas Southern Sumatera Representative Office spokesman Andi Arie Pangeran, TJB officials and many local communities attended the event.

PetroChina expected that the 11 programs would support the wellbeing of the local communities and boost the economic recovery in the area, which was affected by Covid-19 pandemic. Apart from the multi-function community hall, PetroChina also handed over the clean water program in Kuala Betara; 4,057-meter asphalt pavement road in Serdang Jaya Subdistrict, Betara District; construction of dormitory in Rhiyadul Jannah Boarding House in Sungai Dualap Subdistrict, Kuala Betara District; construction of dormitory in Rhiyadus Shalihin Boarding House in Sungai Nibung Subdistrict, Tungkal Ilir District; the construction of meeting hall in Datuk Ismail Negara Boarding House in Sungai Saren Subdistrict, Bram Itam District; the Ecotourism program in Muntialo Subdistrict, Betara District; the disaster mitigation program; a car wash run by local community in Pematang Lumut Subdistrict, Betara District; integrated organic farming and waste management in Pematang Subdistrict, Betara District; and sustainable and integrated organic farming in Lubuk Terentang Subdistrict, Betara District.

Field Manager John Halim said that the community hall would be utilized by communities in four subdistricts. “I hope this hall will serve its function and becomes the activity center for the community members,” John said.

Anwar added that the government was grateful for social contributions from private sector, including PetroChina. “We are thankful for PetroChina’s role in development. If we could continue to work hand in hand in developing the area, I believe we could improve the quality of human resources in Tanjung Jabung Barat,” he added.
