Amid the work-from-home implementation, PetroChina Jabung hosted virtual company visit from the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Student Chapter in Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) on Wednesday, September 2, 2020.

Fifty students joined the virtual company visit “ExSPEdition to PetroChina International Jabung Ltd.” through zoom conference platform. Act. HR Manager of PetroChina Ms. Alfiani opened the virtual meeting.

“Company visit by students from various universities is something we always look for. It’s nice to meet with younger people who want to know about how PetroChina operates in Indonesia,” said Alfiani. “However, due to Covid-19 pandemic, we have worked from home for months and could not physically host the company visit in our office. I hope the virtual company visit will meet the need, if it is less fun for you.”

The virtual session started with HR overview from members of HR Department of PetroChina. As a production sharing contractor (PSC) and operator of Jabung Block, PetroChina provides internship opportunities for university students/fresh graduates from various majors.

In 2018, PetroChina began the selection process for PetroChina Internship Program (PIP), an internship opportunity for fresh graduates from oil-and-gas-related majors in three universities, namely Bandung-based ITB, Yogyakarta-based UGM and Jakarta-based Universitas Trisakti.

The program, and other internship opportunities, are currently postponed due to Covid-19 pandemic.

During the virtual company visit, the students also discussed exploration, exploitation and production process of oil and gas with PetroChina’s Exploration, Exploitation and Engineering Department members.
