On 22 August 2024, PetroChina Jabung in collaboration with the Pangkal Babu Mangrove Preservation Forum hosted a mangrove preservation socialization event at SMPN 1 junior high school in Kualatungkal, West Tanjung Jabung, Jambi province.

PetroChina Jabung’s Act. Government & Relations Superintendent Fauzan Ibrahim said that the event was part of PetroChina's effort to raise environmental awareness especially on protecting mangrove on coastal areas.

“Through this event, we wish to educate the younger generation on the importance of protecting the environment. We hope that they will have good awareness to contribute in efforts to protect the Earth,” he said.

Dozens of the school’s students and teachers attended the event. School principal Nahrudin said that he appreciated PetroChina Jabung and the mangrove forum for hosting the environmental talk. “It’s good that these teenagers can enjoy a lively and interactive talk about the environment. This is an important issue and we need to communicate it well to students, make the topic interesting and easy to digest. It’s good for the students to learn directly from communities [that deal with these issues],” he said.

Mangrove preservation is part of PetroChina’s CSR environment program. We support the development of Pangkal Babu Mangrove Area in West Tanjung Jabung. We also actively support social media campaigns and school visits to the mangrove area.
