PetroChina Hosts Company Visit for Petroleum Engineering Students

PetroChina HR Manager Alfiani officially opened the virtual event, which was held on Zoom platform. PetroChina Senior Exploration Manager I Nyoman Suta and Act. Communication Manager Afdal were among the event’s 32 attendees.

Exploration Manager Hendra Niko Saputra, reservoir engineer Gesa Endah Prastiti and Yosefine Aryani from HR department spoke in two knowledge-sharing sessions.

Hendra Niko and Gesa shared with the students about exploration and production activities in PetroChina’s Jabung Block, including how the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has impacted the oil and gas industry.

“We implement strict Covid-19 prevention protocol to maintain effective daily office and field operation while also ensuring the safety of employees and family members from virus exposure,” Hendra Niko explained during his presentation.

Furthermore, he also talked about the role of data mining and machine learning in supporting operational activities.

Meanwhile, Yosefine spoke about internship and career opportunities for engineering students at PetroChina.

In 2018, the company launched its PetroChina Internship Program (PIP) for fresh graduates from oil-and-gas-related majors in ITB, Yogyakarta-based Gadjah Mada University (UGM) and Jakarta-based Trisakti University. The program, and other internship opportunities, are currently postponed due to Covid-19 pandemic.

The company visit is part of the “Integrated Petroleum Festival 2021” (IPFEST 2021), an annual event hosted by the ITB Petroleum Engineering Students Association, the Society of Petroleum Engineers ITB Student Chapter (SPE ITB SC) and the ITB student chapter of the Society of Indonesian Petroleum Engineers (IATMI).
