The handover ceremony was held at Wisma PKK TJT, which also houses the regency’s Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) branch secretariat, at 9 a.m. PMI TJT branch head Wirdayanti Romi received the donation.
In the occasion, PetroChina delivered 7,000 cloth masks, five wash basins and 10 bottles of liquid hand wash to the TJT branches of the PMI, the Indonesian Apothecary Association (IAI) and the Indonesian Midwives Association (IBI).
PetroChina also delivered 50 personal protective equipment (PPE), comprising hazmat suits, N95 masks, surgical masks, face shields, goggles, rubber boots and gloves, to the Nurdin Hamzah general hospital in TJT.
PetroChina VP Human Resources and Relations Dencio Renato Boele said PetroChina cared deeply about the health of locals and medical workers in Jambi, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. “As part of the upstream oil and gas industry in Jambi, PetroChina cares very much about public health in Jambi and the protection of medical workers at the front line of Covid-19 mitigation efforts,” Dencio said.
Dencio emphasized that Covid-19 mitigation would only be effective through coordination among various stakeholders. “In line with the government’s appeal, good coordination and collaboration are required so that we can get through this pandemic safely,” he said.
Wirdayanti said that PetroChina’s donation would be distributed immediately to those in need. “Insya Allah [God willing], we will distribute this donation soon,” she said.
The donations are part of a series of Covid-19 mitigation policies PetroChina has carried out in Jakarta and Jambi. Previously, on April 1, PetroChina donated medical and disinfection equipment in TJT and Tanjung Jabung Barat (TJB). On April 6, PetroChina was involved in disinfections around its work areas in Betara district, TJB, and Geragai district, TJT.
Furthermore, PetroChina holds routine temperature checks thrice a day for all employees. The company has also held medical evaluation simulation, imposed meeting restrictions and disinfected office areas.
In Jakarta, PetroChina has channeled a donation of 60,000 surgical masks from its parent company, the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), to SKK Migas and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
PetroChina continues to coordinate with SKK Migas and related health institutions in Covid-19 mitigation efforts in Jakarta and Jambi.
Separately, SKK Migas Southern Sumatra Representative Office head Adiyanto Agus Handoyo said that he appreciated PetroChina’s contributions for locals in its work areas during the Covid-19 pandemic. “We hope that this will benefit the people and help prevent them from contracting the disease,” Adiyanto said. He said that he hoped upstream oil and gas activities would always directly benefit locals, including through healthcare donations and other contributions by PetroChina and other production sharing contractors (PSC).
