Over 200 people attended the virtual event themed “Developing Jambi with Upstream Oil and Gas Industry”. SKK Migas Southern Sumatra Representative head Anggono Mahendrawan and Unja’s science and technology faculty deputy dean of student and alumni affairs Yulia Morsa Said gave opening speeches.
PetroChina was represented by CSR superintendent Adrian Wibisono, who talked about the upstream oil and gas industry’s contribution to Jambi people through community development programs.
“Our community development programs include infrastructure, economic development, education, environment, health, disaster relief and indigenous community programs. Our focus areas are Tanjung Jabung Barat and Tanjung Jabung Timur regencies, where we operate. We have programs in other areas as well,” he said.
Adrian went on to highlight several of PetroChina’s community development programs, including Sukorejo Ecotourism and Sri Menanti bridge construction in Tanjung Jabung Barat, as well as green school initiative and composting business development with local farmers in Tanjung Jabung Timur.
“We plan and carry out our programs strategically, based on coordination and collaboration with local stakeholders. Furthermore, we use the UN Sustainable Development Goals and guidelines from SKK Migas and government agencies as frameworks for our programs,” he explained.
SKK Migas Southern Sumatra public relations senior manager Andi Arie Pangeran, Repsol stakeholders relations manager Amir Faisal Jindan and MontD’or Sub Surface Manager Andhy Kurniawan also spoke at the general lecture. Andi Arie talked about upstream oil and gas governance, Amir spoke on the industry’s expectations on fresh graduates and necessary skills to enter the industry, while Andhy explained oil and gas exploration and exploitation activities.
