PetroChina International Jabung Ltd. has taken steps to boost vigilance and health awareness at its Jakarta office and Jambi field amid the growing outbreak of Covid-19 in Indonesia.

These steps include cleansing office areas with liquid disinfectant, implementing a partial work-from-home policy, requiring employees to report body temperature three times a day and providing boxed meals for employees.

PetroChina VP Human Resources and Relations Dencio Renato Boele explained that the steps were taken as protecting the safety and health of all employees and their families was the company’s main priority.

“We have full responsibility to ensure the health and safety of our employees, their families and the local communities living near our work areas,” Dencio said.

According to him, all employees at Jakarta office and Jambi field, including several expatriates, are in good condition and ready to work.

“We inform that, as of now, no PetroChina employees have shown COVID-19 symptoms. We will continue to monitor the conditions of all employees and we encourage them to always adhere to healthy living behavior [PHBS] guidelines from health authorities such as the World Health Organization [WHO] and the Health Ministry,” he continued.

PetroChina cleansed all areas in its Jakarta office, including office spaces, meeting rooms, the mosque, the multifunction room, the basement parking spaces and all operational vehicles, with liquid disinfectant earlier this month.

Starting from March 16, 2020, the company implemented a work-from-home policy for employees in all departments, except for those whose work involves deadlines, such as finance reporting and tax reporting.

Despite working from home, all employees are required to report their body temperature to their department heads three times a day.

The body temperature check had been held routinely at PetroChina office for all employees since January. The checks were overseen by HSSE Department every day at 7 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, activities in Jabung field are still going smoothly, with several adjustments in order to curb the spread of Covid-19.

“PetroChina’s management is taking serious steps in protecting all employees at Betara Camp (in Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency) and Geragai Camp (in Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency),” Dencio said.

Currently, as anticipatory measures, all workers are subjected to routine body temperature checks three times a day, liquid disinfectant is sprayed to facilities prone to the spreading the virus and a medical evacuation drill for managing Covid-19 suspects was held in early March.

Meetings involving many participants are limited and employees are urged to avoid crowds and public spaces. Starting from March 4, 2020, the company has also replaced buffets with boxed meals distributed three times a day.

All Jabung field employees are still working normally and have obtained full guidance on clean and healthy living in line with standards established by health authorities such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Health Ministry of the Republic of Indonesia.

PetroChina will continue to coordinate with SKK Migas and relevant health agencies in order to curb the further spread of Covid-19 in Jakarta and Jambi.
