PetroChina hosted a virtual company visit for 66 members of the Indonesian Geophysics Student Association (HMGI) Region 2 on January 21, 2022. Exploration Support & Operation Manager Andri Syafriya and HR Training Superintendent Yosefine Aryani spoke at the event, which was themed “Enlarge the Possibility of Geophysicist in Site Survey”. Act. Communication Manager Afdal gave the opening speech.

The 66 students who attended the event came from University of Indonesia, Padjadjaran University, Bandung Institute of Technology, Sumatera Institute of Technology and several other colleges.

In his session, Andri talk about geophysicists’ roles in site survey to mitigate geological hazards. According to him, site survey is necessary for early identification of hazards before offshore drilling. Hazards that must be avoided include shallow gas, fault, pockmarks and seabed. Site survey can go on for one year due to changing conditions at the bottom of the sea.

Meanwhile, Yosefine talked about developing competitive talents at oil and gas industry. She explained that knowledge, experience, competencies and personal attributes were essential to be successful at work. According to her, important skills for working in the future include growth mindset, lifelong learning, critical thinking, interpersonal communication, curiosity and flexibility.
