PetroChina International Jabung Ltd. (PCJL) is committed to increasing production above 50,000 BOEPD through several development programs and innovations. PCJL also seeks to boost investments in the upstream oil and gas industry to align with the Government of Indonesia’s long-term production target, while also making meaningful social contributions to local communities through the CSR programs.

With the full support from SKK Migas and PCJL’s partners in Jabung Block, namely PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Jabung, PETRONAS Carigali (Jabung) Ltd., PT GPI Jabung Indonesia, and PT Raharja Energi Tanjung Jabung, PCJL plans a drilling program for nine (9) development wells and exploration activities in NEB BASE-3 this year.

As of June 2024, PCJL has started the spud-ins in five (5) wells. The exploration program in the NEB BASE-3 well, as well as 3D & 2D seismic surveys in the eastern part of the Jabung Working Area are underway.

“Currently, we are preparing the data recording as part of the seismic survey. At the same time, we are running tests in the NEB BASE-3 exploration well and hope for the best results,” PCJL President Director Qian Mingyang said.

The 3D & 2D seismic surveys commenced in December last year in East Tanjung Jabung Regency. The 3D survey will be carried out in Ketemu and Rukam prospects, while the 2D survey will be carried out in the eastern part of the Jabung Working Area.

Other development programs in 2024 include multiple well workovers and services, constructing additional production facilities, and routine compressor repairs.

Within the contract extension period from 2023 – 2043, PCJL is committed to realizing the Firm Commitments in the Jabung Working Area, including investing in the pre-feasibility study for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) project. “We also eye opportunities in other oil and gas working areas in Indonesia,” Qian added.

Head of Program and Communication Division of SKK Migas, Hudi. D. Suryodipuro encouraged Production Sharing Contractors (PSCs) to keep their commitment in exploration and exploitation as stated in the Work Program and Budget (WP&B) 2024.

According to Hudi, Jabung’s oil and gas reserves are promising and need to be developed further to boost the production rate. “SKK Migas hopes that the exploration activities run smoothly and yield good results,” Hudi said.

As Jabung operator, PCJL also teams up with governments and local communities around Jabung to design development and empowerment programs based on Environment, Social, dan Governance (ESG) principles. Some of the notable projects this year include road construction projects and training for local batik and songket entrepreneurs. PCJL collaborated with a local community forum in West Tanjung Jabung Regency to plant 35,000 mangrove seedlings in June and plans another planting program of 16,000 mangrove seedlings in East Tanjung Jabung Regency.
