PetroChina Jabung community development staff M. Yuda Ramdani and M. Yusuf represented the company in the ceremony. Also in attendance were Afridayanti from the Tanjung Jabung Barat tourism agency, Rachmawati from the regency’s cooperatives, industry and trade agency, as well as Jambi tourism player and ecotourism counselor Ade Jermawinsyah Zebua. In line with local regulation, the ceremony was held under strict Covid-19 health protocols.

The handover ceremony followed a certification assessment by Maestro Indonesia Tourism Professional Certification Agency (LSP Maestro Indonesia) for 22 members of Sukorejo Ecotourism, comprising 11 tour guides, six waiters and five baristas, on September 26 last year.

The certification, supported by SKK Migas and PetroChina International Jabung Ltd., is part of the effort to improve the capacity of human resources at Sukorejo Ecotourism.

PetroChina vice president human resources and relations Dencio Renato Boele said that this was part of the company’s commitment to work with the government and communities in developing local potentials around the company’s work area. “Sukorejo Ecotourism is a collaborative program, of which PetroChina is proud to be a part of. Through this certification, we hope that ecotourism members will be more creative in developing their village’s economy for the benefit of everyone,” Dencio said.

The ecotourism program began in 2015, comprising coffee cherry quality improvement, post-harvest training for farmers and tourism development. The ecotourism site now comprises eight spots for visitors to enjoy, namely Karya Pembangunan II liberica coffee seeding center; Syauqi Art gallery; Tambi Trubus bonsai art center; Kopi Luwak Kembar Alami, which offers civet-consumed coffee beans; three locations to learn about post-harvest process of liberica coffee; and the famous Gerai Meja coffee shop and the community center, which regularly hosts live music and various trainings for the local youth communities.
