On behalf of PetroChina management, Dencio said in his speech that these programs reached out various local communities and are proof of collaboration between the upstream oil and gas industry, local governments and local communities.

“We sincerely hope that the new building at Koramil 419-05 can support efforts to maintain security in and around TJT. We are grateful that it is located near our facilities which are national vital objects,” Dencio explained. “Furthermore, PetroChina has also completed asphalting the access road of Tanjung Jabung Timur Circuit. Moving forward, we believe that the circuit will be a new pride for local communities,” he said.

Separately, SKK Migas Southern Sumatra Representative Office Head Anggono Mahendrawan said that PetroChina Jabung was the most active PSC with biggest contribution to the regions where it operates, namely TJB and TJT in Jambi Province.

“Our record shows that PetroChina, as a big PSC in Southern Sumatra, has always shown great contribution. The company realized various CSR programs in TJT Regency with total value of Rp 28,545,089,500 in 2021 and Rp 18,781,761,250 in 2022. In 2023, the Indonesian Government through SKK Migas has approved PetroChina’s CSR Budget at Rp 26,258,669,800 in TJT Regency. SKK Migas always monitors the implementation of PetroChina’s social programs, both at provincial and regency levels. The company’s commitment that we appreciate the most was during the Covid-19 pandemic, when PetroChina continued to contribute massively amid various limitations,” Anggono said.

“SKK Migas surely hopes for support and good collaboration from local governments so that PetroChina’s social contributions can always be improved and they can affect more local people. Thus far, synergy between the upstream oil and gas industry and the governments of TJB and TJT regencies have remained solid,” he continued.

Other than CSR programs, the upstream industry also provides oil and gas revenue sharing (DBH Migas) to regions. Anggono said that TJT Regency’s 2023 DBH Migas increased 16 percent from the year before. “DBH Migas for TJT Regency this year is Rp 67,521,460,000, up 16 percent from Rp 58,104,690,000 last year,” he said. Meanwhile, DBH Migas for TJB Regency this year is Rp 248,195,883,000, up two percent from Rp 244,429,982,000 last year.

Regarding several needs to improve and construct infrastructure voiced by the regency government, Anggono ensured that this would be the collective commitment of SKK Migas and PSCs including PetroChina. “Surely, we have various considerations in carrying out social programs. The upstream oil and gas industry will always be ready to collaborate and contribute for the improvement of people’s quality of life. However, all social programs require time and must fulfill principles of good corporate governance,” he said.
