Over 270 PetroChina employees and stakeholders joined the webinar through Zoom and YouTube.

Speakers at the event were University of Indonesia senior pulmonologist Erlina Burhan, National Covid-19 Task Force behavioral change department head Sonny Harry Harmadi and Jambi Covid-19 Task Force spokesperson Johansyah.

Petrochina Vice President Human Resources and Relations Dencio Renato Boele delivered the opening remark, while SKK Migas Southern Sumatra Representative Office head Anggono Mahendrawan officially opened the webinar.

In his remarks, Dencio said that the event was part of PetroChina’s support for the Indonesian government’s Covid-19 vaccination campaign. “PetroChina is proud to be a part of an initiative to spread valid information to the general public regarding the collective steps we need to take to end the pandemic,” he said.

Anggono shared this sentiment, explaining that SKK Migas would remain committed on supporting various Covid-19 vaccination campaigns. “[Hopefully], more and more people will be able to access in-depth and trustworthy information from experts.”

In the event, Erlina explained about Covid-19 variants, types of Covid-19 vaccines, their effectiveness and side effects. Meanwhile, Sonny talked about behavioral change strategies to better mitigate Covid-19 spread.

Erlina said that the Covid-19 virus mutated into new variants as it entered the human body and faced resistance from the immune system. Mutation allows the virus to survive and makes it more resilient in the process.

According to Sonny, people must be willing to adapt to new conditions in order to protect one another in the pandemic. He also explained the government’s Covid-19 awareness campaign that encourages people to adhere to health protocols and educate one another on how to defeat Covid-19.

Johansyah explained that the Jambi province administration would continue its vaccination campaign as well as testing and tracing to reduce the number of Covid-19 cases and stop the virus spread.
