PetroChina International Jabung Ltd. continues to support efforts to prevent and handle the land and forest fires around Jambi, especially in West Tanjung and East Tanjung Jabung, as the dry season increases fire risks.

Over the past two months, PetroChina took part in extinguishing 10 land and forest fires in several villages across the two regencies by deploying personnel and firefighting equipment.

One of the latest responses took place around the pipeline area and NEB Station facilities in Pematang Lumut, Betara, West Tanjung Jabung. PetroChina deployed a fire truck, water tank truck, portable fire pump, and a response team involving employees from HSE, Security, and Construction.

The response was carried out in coordination with government agencies and other stakeholders, including the the National Armed Forces (TNI), National Police (Polri), Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Manggala Agni (National Forest and Land Fire Control Organization), Community Fire Awareness Groups (MPA), and other companies. PetroChina is also part of the local forest and land fires task forces in both regencies.

Beyond emergency response, PetroChina conducts fire prevention activities through awareness sessions and training for employees, contractors, and relevant government agencies. Through its Community Development and Empowerment (PPM) programs, the company also works with local governments to establish Firefighting Volunteer Units (Redkar) to strengthen community preparedness.

Through these efforts, PetroChina continues to support coordinated forest and land fires prevention and response while contributing to the safety and environmental protection of communities around the Jabung Working Area.
