PetroChina International Jabung Ltd., a Production Sharing Contractor (PSC) with full support from SKK Migas, will continue to optimize its various work programs in 2022 in order to reach its production and lifting targets this year. As the operator of Jabung Working Area in Jambi Province, PetroChina was among 15 PSCs invited by SKK Migas to a coordination meeting on September 16-17, 2022, to discuss this year’s production targets.

In the coordination meeting between leaders of SKK Migas and PSCs, PetroChina President Director Qian Mingyang gave a presentation and was accompanied by General Manager Jabung Wang Qiling, Senior Development Manager Budi Tyas Utomo and Reservoir Engineering Manager Wicaksono.

Currently, PetroChina has completed nine drilling programs in 11 development wells approved in the 2022 Work Planning & Budget (WP&B). Furthermore, PetroChina also launched drilling programs in three additional development wells, increasing the company’s target to 14 development well drillings this year.

Other than the development well drilling, PetroChina has also completed 10 workover programs included in the 2022 original WP&B. Additional workover programs on six wells have also been approved by SKK Migas.

PetroChina also continues its well service activity through the implementation of Gas Lift Pack Off (GLPO), Gas Lift, pump maintenance, wax removal, swabbing and replacing production zone/layer.

From these efforts, oil production and gas sales has achieved 102% and 103% of targets, respectively. However, productions of condensate (93%) and LPG (97%) have yet to achieve targets due to decreasing performances in Betara Gas Plant, leading to non-optimal separating of condensate from LPG.

To maintain quality of facility and increase production of condensate and LPG, PetroChina will carry out planned shutdown in Betara Gas Plant for eight days, on 23-30 October 2022.

“In the future, PetroChina will need more support from SKK Migas, including support for long-term development and implementation of new technologies in Jabung, and also relevant support from other stakeholders,” Qian said.

The coordination meeting was led by SKK Migas head Dwi Soetjipto. He was accompanied by SKK Migas Deputy of Planning Benny Lubiantara and Deputy of Operations Julius Wiratno. At the meeting’s end, SKK Migas conveyed its appreciation to PetroChina for its good realization and its various efforts to achieve 2022 targets.

SKK Migas said that it hoped PetroChina could expand its exploration and investment to other oil and gas working areas in Indonesia. Currently, other than operating Jabung Working Area, PetroChina also operates Bangko Working Area. Both are in Jambi.
