PetroChina Jabung hosted a training for members of the “Gerbang Lestari” Ecological Park development program in Kota Baru Village, Geragai District, Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency on May 29, 2022.

“Gerbang Lestari” stands for Gerakan Pengembangan Lingkungan Ekologi dan Sapi-Sawit Terintegrasi or Environmental Development and Integrated Cattle-Palm Oil Farming Movement. The ecological park is aimed at raising local awareness on environmental conservation efforts, including providing educational entertainment and tours for visitors.

The training of May 29, on developing eco-friendly school curriculum for the ecological park, was the third that PetroChina facilitated for the development program in May. Previously, a training on ecological park development planning was held on May 14 and another one on assessing human resources potentials for the park’s development was held on May 22.

PetroChina community development specialist Yuda Ramdani and Jambi University lecturer Dede Martino, who helps oversee the park’s development, also attended the training.

Yuda explained that the ecological park development began in 2021, through SKK Migas-PetroChina Jabung’sn social responsibility program in collaboration with Jambi University and the Tanjung Jabung Timur administration.

“Through this program, we combine potentials of cattle cultivation, organic fertilizer development based on integrated cattle-palm oil farming and the concept of eco-friendly school,” Yuda said.

PetroChina hosts the trainings this year after constructing several facilities for the ecological park in 2021.

Head of Kota Baru Village’s Suka Maju Farmers Group, Parli, who attended the training on May 29, expressed his gratitude for the trainings that PetroChina provides. “Hopefully, the lessons we gain in these trainings can be implemented later on,” he said.
