PetroChina hosted an empowerment program for members of Muntialo Green Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) on May 28-30, 2022. The training was expected to improve the group’s skill to develop their business.

As Muntialo village in Tanjung Jabung Barat is located near forest areas, it is crucial in forest fire protection efforts. The ecotourism project will not only open new tourism spot but also raise the people’s awareness about the forest fire threat in the future.

“This training is PetroChina’s contribution to the society. Muntialo village has potential in preventing forest fires, and the Pokdarwis has a strong commitment to the success of this program,” said PetroChina Community Development Supervisor M. Yuda Ramdani.

The ecotourism project is one of PetroChina’s social investment projects dedicated for the local communities. Previously, PetroChina supported the development of a similar program for the coffee farmers’ community in Betara, also located in Tanjung Jabung Barat.

Pokdarwis Sukorejo in Betara now runs a thriving coffee-based tourism and develops other potentials such as art and sports.

As the operator of Jabung Block in Tanjung Jabung Barat and Tanjung Jabung Timur, PetroChina regularly created social investment programs in various sectors, including economic empowerment, environment, education, health, and infrastructure.
