PetroChina Coordinates with Various Stakeholders in Transparent Investigation

Production Sharing Contractor (PSC) PetroChina International Jabung Ltd. informs that the company has coordinated with various stakeholders in investigating the incident at WB-D7 well in Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency, Jambi Province.

As of Wednesday (11/1), PetroChina has welcomed several external parties conducting checks on site of accident, including teams from Directorate General of Oil and Gas from MEMR, the police’s forensic laboratory center and manpower agencies of Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency and Jambi Province.

The fire accident on Monday (9/1) began from fire spark from shale shaker that ignite oil film inside mud tank filled with mud and hydrocarbon.

“PetroChina is ready to collaborate with various stakeholders in carrying out transparent investigation on the accident on WB-D7 well,” PetroChina Vice President Human Resources & Relations Dencio Renato Boele said.

“We are continuing our coordination with drilling service companies on handling [of accident] on location. Oil and gas production in Jabung Working Area is normal and investigation process is still ongoing. There is no environmental impact reported from this accident,” Dencio continued.

As previously reported, the accident took place in WB-D7 well area operated by Drilling Service Companies. Three workers were involved, comprising two from Bohai Drilling Contractor and one from Great Wall Drilling Contractor. The two service companies were the contractors that provide Bohai-85 Rig used in workover program at WB-D7 well in Jabung Working Area.

After thorough medical examination, one worker was released from hospital and will get outpatient treatment. Meanwhile, two receive intensive care at a hospital in Jambi: one for burns and another for bone fracture. The injury sustained by the worker with broken bone happened when he tried to escape away from the fire. Currently, both workers have received medical treatment in line with their conditions and both are in stable condition.

PetroChina Reports Work Accident at WB-D7 Area

Production Sharing Contractor (PSC) PetroChina International Jabung Ltd. informs that a work accident occurred at WB-D7 well area operated by Drilling Service Companies in Tanjung Jabung Barat, Jambi, on Monday (9/1).

The accident involved three workers, including two from Bohai Drilling Contractor and one from Great Wall Drilling Contractor. Both service companies are contractors that supply Bohai-85 Rig used in workover program in WB-D7 well in Jabung Working Area.

Currently, the three workers have received treatment in a hospital in Jambi. After thorough examination, one worker was released from hospital for outpatient treatment while the other two are under intensive care in hospital.

“The two workers receiving hospital treatment are in stable condition and receiving further treatment from a team of specialist doctors. We also wish to inform that one is being treated for burns and one is being treated for bone fracture,” PetroChina Vice President Human Resources and Relations Dencio Renato Boele said.

“Currently, we are coordinating with the drilling service companies for treatment of patients and to repair rig conditions on location. We have also reported this incident to SKK Migas and the Directorate General of Oil and Gas,” Dencio continued.

As of now, oil and gas production in Jabung Working Area remains normal and investigation on field is ongoing.
