SKK Migas–PSCs Take Part in Tree-Planting Program

Upstream oil and gas regulator SKK Migas and several production sharing contractors (PSCs) including PetroChina, took part in a tree-planting event in Yogyakarta on February 20, 2023.

SKK Migas Chairman Dwi Soetjipto, Head of Environmental Agency of the Sleman Regency Rita Probowati, and several representatives from PSCs symbolically planted several trees to start the program. PetroChina Communication Manager Ginandjar also attended the event. According to the plan, as much as 5,000 trees of Paraserianthes falcataria, a native Indonesian flora, would be gradually planted until March this year.

Through the program of “Upstream Oil and Gas Industry’s Tree Planting: One Tree, A Million Benefits” SKK Migas – PSCs have initiated several tree-planting activities aimed at reducing carbon emission. The trees are also expected to provide additional income for the local people around the area.

SKK Migas involves PSCs in the tree-planting program through their CSR budget. The regulator has gradually increased their tree-planting target from 1.2 million trees in 2021 to 1.7 million trees in 2022 and 2 million trees this year.
