PetroChina Jabung is proud to support the 2022 Zabag Expo held by the Tanjung Jabung Timur regency government at WTC Batanghari Mall in Jambi City, Jambi Province, on Saturday, 15 October 2022.

First held in 2019, the annual event aims to promote Tanjung Jabung Timur’s local arts and culture. This year’s event coincided with the regency’s 23rd anniversary and was its first iteration since the Covid-19 pandemic began.

PetroChina CSR Superintendent Adrian Wibisono, Government & Relations Advisor Ahmad Ramadlan and Community Development Supervisor Lasno attended the event. In his remarks, Adrian said that the company hoped the event would help advance Tanjung Jabung Timur’s small and medium enterprises.

Through the years, PetroChina in cooperation with local stakeholders has launched various social programs to help empower local communities. Among the latest programs the company launched is training and competency certification for six local batik artists in Yogyakarta – a major hub of Indonesia’s batik culture and industry.

“Apart from providing income for Tanjung Jabung Timur, we are also committed to carrying out community empowerment programs,” Adrian said. “We always coordinate with the regency government. Hopefully, moving forward, we can collaborate to increase people’s income around our working area,” he said.

Meanwhile, Tanjung Jabung Timur handicrafts council (Dekranasda) chair Wirdayanti Romi said that she hoped the event could boost local batik artists’ confidence.

Jambi Province Dekranasda chair Hesnidar Haris said that Tanjung Jabung Timur’s colorful batik art deserved national recognition. “I often wear Tanjung Jabung Timur batiks in various events. I hope that this event could boost the batik’s popularity,” she said.
