PetroChina employees in Jakarta joined the Eid Gathering 2023 in a small but festive event on May 17. Hosted by PetroChina Moslem Community, the gathering was the first offline event to invite all employees after over two years of online events during the Covid-19 pandemic.

More than 450 employees, including President Director Qian Mingyang and other members of management, joined the event which carried the theme of “Gathering in Harmony, Lets Begin a New Journey”.

“From what I learn, Eid Fitri symbolizes a new start, or a beginning of a new journey for us as a better self after completing the challenge of one month of fasting during Ramadan,” Qian said in his opening speech.

“Fitri also means going back to our roots, not only as a person but also members of community/company. In this situation, it is time to go back to our root as one company with one dream: to be leading oil and gas company in Indonesia,” he added.

As PetroChina began the contract extension period of Jabung Block, Qian hoped that all employees would put their dedication and hard works during the 20-year term. “I hope this act of commitment will live on and become our root and our identity,” he said.

Qian said that PetroChina management would support the Moslem Community and other employee groups in PetroChina to create more empowering activities in the future.

PetroChina Moslem Community is one of many groups initiated and run by the employees. The community hosts many regular events, including daily prayers, Eid and Ramadan gatherings and charity for disadvantages communities.
